Southern Dalmatia is not so available because of its geographical position. Due to the unavailability of the highway and railroads the safest way of travelling to this part of Croatia is by plane, ferry or bus. If you decide to travel by aeroplane there is Dubrovnik airport which is 22 kilometers away from the centre of the city center. From there you have direct lines between Split, Osijek and Zagreb. If you want to come by car you can go through Karlovac and Bosiljevo, and then along the old coastal road. Dubrovnik is connected to the sea by regular ferry lines to Rijeka, Split and Hvar. The ferry port is also an international ferry that departs for Bari in Italy. Train can come to southern Dalmatia only from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Mostar and Ploče via Sarajevo. Ploče are connected with direct trains from Metkovic, Sarajevo and Zagreb. All major tourist destinations are associated with bus lines regularly and are associated with the rest of Croatia.
